“Under the banyan tree” is a documentary exploring the inner world, memories and experiences of a 103-year-old Philippine woman, Nana Jessie. The life of a woman who at 18 left her birthplace in Cuba, to travel across land and ocean all by herself, to meet her future husband, Marcial Lichauco, in Manila. This is the portrait of a life full of adventure and unusual situations, embracing from before World War II to the present day. A house packed with old books, antiques, exotic objects, stuffed wild animals, photo albums, cats, dogs and a huge two hundred year old banyan tree next to the Pasig River, will be the supporting actors at the background of her memories. Through them and a clownish historical guide named Carlos Celdrán, we will discover the history of a country, the traces of the Spanish and North American colonization, as well as the violent Japanese invasion during World War II.

A road in the Pampean plain becomes the scene of a mysterious encounter between a gardener and a ragged, trampy old man. Between the two an unexpected communication arises that leads our protagonist to a direct clash with the uncomfortable, the unpleasant. In a suspicious and dangerous world, daring behavior can have consequences. Like another story taken from "One Thousand and One Nights", Mechongué is an invitation in times of social distancing, of Covid, of puritans and millennials in virtuality, to the courage of close and intimate contact with the unknown.

ABOUT LOVE
By
Juan Carlos Sampedro
Screenwriter of state of impurity
Love is the most perfect way in which people can bond in a lasting way, love is the highest peak that emotions and feelings can achieve to conquer happiness, but then, why does it cause so many ruptures and becomes a source of bitterness, could it be that love hides a dark and gloomy reverse? Of course. We do not know love in its pure state, and we do not even know if such a thing exists even if we like to believe in it. But there it all ends, the path that goes from love without contradictions to selfish love, is full of twists and turns.
First of all, if the romantic love between two people is identified as true love, we make the first mistake in calling it authentic, because this love is a cultural idea supported by an evolutionary psychology that pushes men and women to unite with it. simple purpose of having offspring. It would be something like the dress that human survival puts on the act of procreating. We have known for a long time that this kind of love is not love, it is a cocktail of euphoric neurotransmitters so that we like a person and join them, with the aim, no matter how much they disguise themselves, of having children. When that cocktail fades, men and women stop loving each other, just as promised. History is crammed with this behavior.
So what is love if we do without the disguise of survival? The truth is that nobody knows it because what we do when we love is to love ourselves first and last, in a closed circuit. However it is believed that love is something like the key to unlocking our innate selfishness, but that never happens. In love we constantly win and lose, there is plunder, benefits, objections, reproaches, agreements and disagreements, all depending on how threatened our personal importance feels, in short, our individuality, our appropriate right to be the world above the world.
If this film tries to do anything, it is to show that tortuous and fraudulent process of loving people without loving them, leaving us alone in a world full of others. Although it is also true that we know deep inside us that love is the only feeling capable of forgiving us for this behavior and opening the doors of our cell, even if it means a first sacrifice. Usually it is never done, we take our love to the grave, virgin, unwrapped, that's why you have the feeling of dying alone, despite having loved and loved you. The love that Impure State speaks of, at the end of the film, is precisely the opposite of this love with which we sail through life as pirates, stealing the treasures of others.
The love to which the impure state points out is the love opposed to love, the unknown love that is scary because it attacks the scourge of love of pain.

SYNOPSIS
Two married couples have been invited over by Daniel, a middle aged writer and beekeeper, to spend a weekend at his farm. Things run amiably and smoothly over lunch. Married couples are composed of a mediocre lawyer Esteban and his frustrated wife Natalia, and a perfectionist engineer Francis and his beautiful young and inquisitive wife, Paola. Another couple, friends of Daniel's, joins them later for lunch: a brilliant and famous international actress, Alexandra, with his handsome and mysterious companion Jacobo.
To their surprise and dismay, the two couples realize that Jacobo, Alexandra and Daniel form a loving threesome or throuple. Once they get used to the idea, however, Alexandra provocatively reveals Daniel's plans for them: his invitation was aimed at enjoying a special gift from the three of them: an orgy centered in his beloved new girlfriend and actress. The peaceful lunch then becomes a devastating earthquake for both married couples.

A NEW film in quarantine in Nice
THAT GREAT SMALL BEING / ESE PEQUEÑO GRAN SER
A film shot during the confinement of Coronavirus in Nice, Côte d'Azur.
SYNOPSIS
A world historical moment. The portrait of a Nice paralyzed in quarantine. The small virus Cov-19, becomes a revolting giant on our planet. Its inhabitants secluded in their homes leave the streets deserted. From a terrace with a swimming pool, like James Stuart in the Hitchcock film "Rear window", a telephoto camera will film this confinement, its streets, its architectures, seagulls and landscapes day after day. The last day before the quarantine ends, the camera goes outside to meet the few who go to play sports or walk their children. They tell us about their feelings, their fears and doubts, and what they would say to the virus if they could talk to it. The landscapes also speak and nature especially, with its turquoise sea, the famous Promenade des Anglois and pebble beach, its alps, boats, lighthouses, tractors, gendarmerie helicopters, docks and airports paralyzed, we will discover an incredible Nice, never seen before, like a ghost town.

SYNOPSIS
This documentary is based on the radical thoughts of the French philosopher Charles Fourier, who in 1809 wrote the book "Le nouveau monde amoureux": an erotic, social and utopian proposal, which presents an unthinkable freedom even today. This documentary is a proactive confrontation between polygamy versus monogamy. Two women and a man will form a love throuple that will recite Fourier in the streets, mountains, parks or swamps, and interview couples until they find the wounds of a failed format, which makes water everywhere, the classic monogamous format, finding the hypocrisy that is hidden. They will discover the lies of conventional relations. With orgies and provocative images of this trio, we will confirm in the compilations of fragments of classic and contemporary films, the number of directors who dared to address the issue of polygamy:
"Design for living" -1933- (Dir.Ernst Lubitsch)
"Jules et Jim" -1968- (Dir. François Truffaut)
"Frente al mar” -1978- (Dir. Gonzalo García Pelayo)
"Manhattan" - 1979 - Dir. Woody Allen,
"Eyes Wide Shut" -1999- (Dir. Stanley Kubrick)
"Marie Jo and her two lovers" - 2003- (Dir.Robert Guédiguian)
"Shortbus" - 2006- (Dir. John Cameron Mitchell)
“Trainwreck” - 2015 - (Dir. Judd Apatow)
"The Daughters of Fire" -2018- (Dir. Albertina Carri)
